Tuesday’s Children Announces New Chairman of the Board: John Fitzsimmons, LtCol USMC (RET)
We are proud to announce the appointment of John Fitzsimmons, LtCol USMC (RET), as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors for Tuesday’s Children, effective October 17, 2023. John succeeds John Cahalane, who has provided exceptional leadership as Chairman since 2016 and will continue to lend his expertise as a member of the Board.
John Fitzsimmons is not only a decorated Marine Corps combat veteran but also a seasoned professional in the field of commercial and real estate in New York City and other national markets. His leadership skills, honed through years of dedicated service both in the military and as a civilian, make him an exemplary choice to lead our organization into the future.
Since joining the Board of Directors in 2015, John has been a driving force behind our mission. His contributions have been pivotal in ensuring long-term healing for those affected by traumatic loss. John’s unique perspective as a military leader and a civilian has been crucial in identifying the need for enhanced support services for bereaved military families – a gap Tuesday’s Children is committed to filling.
As we continue to support the 9/11 community, John’s vision includes broadening our programming to further assist U.S. Military Families of the Fallen. His dedication to service aligns perfectly with the core values of Tuesday’s Children and we are confident that under his leadership, we will continue to provide the care and support that is vital to the families we serve.
In his own words, John Fitzsimmons shared, “I am deeply honored to take on the role of Chairman for Tuesday’s Children. I’m committed to guiding this organization into its next phase of growth and impact, ensuring we continue to provide long-term healing for our 9/11 community while expanding the services we provide to Families of the Fallen.”
Our Interim Executive Director has also expressed great confidence in John’s leadership: “John’s dedication and leadership have been instrumental to our mission. We are confident that under his chairmanship, Tuesday’s Children will continue to thrive and serve our communities with compassion.”
John Fitzsimmons currently resides in Manhattan with his wife Heather and serves as the Senior Director, Head of Commercial Property Management for LeFrak. His passion for service and leadership is an inspiration to us all and Tuesday’s Children is excited to embark on this new chapter with him at the helm.
