KJ’s Corner: Support for Tuesday’s Children’s Community Fundraising Program
At KJ’s Corner, a variety gift store in Glen Head, New York, the spirit of community shone brightly during a September 11th fundraiser for Tuesday’s Children. Owner Karli Langone, a Tuesday’s Children family member, led a community-driven initiative to honor her late father and uncle while supporting a cause close to her heart.
Honoring Lives, Building Community Support
Tuesday’s Children, born in the aftermath of 9/11, provides vital support to families affected by trauma and loss. Karli, driven by personal losses on Tuesday, September 11th, transformed KJ’s Corner into a hub of compassion for our organization. KJ’s Corner’s community fundraiser, running from August 1 through September 30, 2023, offered 11% off for first responders and a donation cash box, generating widespread community backing for the cause.
Turning Loss into Impact
On Tuesday, September 11th, Karli Langone’s (owner of KJ’s Corner) father, Peter, and uncle, Thomas Langone, part of New York City’s bravest and finest, made the supreme sacrifice. They both had a love for their jobs and helping those in need. Both additionally served the community of Roslyn as volunteer firemen of Roslyn Rescue. Karli’s father was a force working for FDNY and volunteering with Roslyn, and he also owned his own landscaping business. He has been one of the driving forces and huge inspirations for KJ’s Corner to be so successful. Although Peter is not physically here, KJ’s Corner would not be what it is without him. The brothers’ spirits lives on at KJ’s Corner, a testament to the resilience born from tragedy. “I…was inspired by my dad. He was a first responder who passed away on September 11th but he also had his own landscaping business that he ran as well. He’s really been one of the driving forces as to why I opened my own business because he was the hardest working man I ever met and I want to live up to that,” she said. This community-driven event not only paid tribute to their memory but also raised crucial funds for Tuesday’s Children.
