Ringing the Opening Bell for NASDAQ and the NYSE
Ringing the opening or closing bells at NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange has become an annual honor for Tuesday’s Children’s families. On this 12th anniversary of 9/11, our family members opened the NYSE at 9:25 am EST, followed by a moment of silence on the trading floor.
Another group representing Tuesday’s Children rang the opening bell at NASDAQ, which then observed a moment of silence at 10:29 am EST. Amanda Gregory, Tuesday’s Children’s Junior Board member, event co-chair and 9/11 family member, served as our representative at the podium. Amanda delivered a moving statement about losing her father on that day 12 years ago and how Tuesday’s Children has been a significant part of her life. A Connecticut resident, Amanda plans to be involved in the development and growth of the Resiliency Center of Newtown.
