Military Families of the Fallen Come Together at NASCAR Weekend at Pocono Raceway
Over 50 Tuesday’s Children family members from Pennsylvania and surrounding states attended NASCAR weekend in July as part of our Family Engagement programs. Pocono Raceway generously donated tickets for our families and they were able to enjoy the races, explore the exhibits, and even met professional driver Corey LaJoie.
“Tuesday’s Children will always be welcome here at Pocono Raceway at no cost to them. We want them to make memories and carry the legacy from their loss forward.” – Kevin Bittenbender, SGM(R), Director of Military Affairs for Pocono Raceway
Aside from the action on the track, the highlight of the weekend was connecting to other families. The Raceway honors U.S. veterans and military members each year at Vet Village and hosts a special breakfast and ceremony for Gold Star families. Tuesday’s Children families particularly enjoy this event as they have the chance to honor the legacies of their family members and create community with other families of the fallen.
“Our loves ones aren’t here to support us through some hard times. We get delivered little angels by being there for each other.” – NASCAR Weekend Family Engagement Program Participant
