Responder Recognition Night
September 9th, Tuesday’s Children’s First Responder Alliance hosted the first Responder Recognition Event at Antun’s in Queens Village, NY. Every Responder registered with Tuesday’s Children was invited to be recognized for their service by joining us for this momentous evening.
Responders and their guest enjoyed delicious food, live music by the Tara O’Grady and the Black Velvet Band and a keynote address by Retired Army Brigadier General Loree Sutton. The FDNY Emerald Society Bagpipe Band opened there presentations and God Bless America was sung by Alyssa Curcio, recording artist and daughter of a Responder. Friday night was part of a three event collaboration with the FealGood Foundation and the 9/11 Parks Committee for the 10th Anniversary of 9/11.
Every Responder in attendance was personally presented with the commemorative coin that was specially commissioned for this event by Tuesday’s Children’s First Responder Alliance and the event closed by a tribute performance sung by Alyssa. The First Responder Alliance has been generously funded by a SAMHSA grant for 2009-2011 and this event marked this momentous yet solemn anniversary for Responders. Special thanks also goes to the NY/CT Viper Club Committee for their support of this event.
