9/11 Serves 11/11 with a Day of Service for the Veteran Community
On Veterans Day, November 11, 2013, over 100 volunteers spent the day with Tuesday’s Children, in partnership with ISI, in New York City completing our largest service project to date honoring Veterans. The energetic volunteers completed 82 handmade fleece blankets for homeless veterans through the Jericho Project, 200 Hygiene kits for the Jericho Project, over 100 Combat to Career Packages for IAVA, and 30 Weekend Getaway bags for the American Widow Project. The volunteers painted 100 hearts for Hearts of Hope, created over 100 handmade cards for deployed veterans, 30 handmade cards with positive messages for the American Widow Project, and decorated bags for Operation Goodie Bag. The volunteers ate lunch together, and completed all of the projects planned for the day. It was a wonderful day of Healing through Helping.
