On August 10th and August 13th, the First Responder Alliance hosted Responders and their families on our annual fishing trip aboard the Taryn-Ann Charter Boat! Families boarded the Taryn-Ann at Captree State Park’s Boat Basin in Babylon, NY for an afternoon of fishing.
One special part of the trip was Captain John flying his commemorative “Remember September 11th“ flag donated by a fellow Responder. Families caught Fluke, sea bass, and a sting-ray while out at sea. As one of the most popular summer programs, many new families joined the First Responder Alliance for fishing with Captain John and his crew.
Special thanks to Captain John and his crew for providing the memorable trips!
Tuesday’s Children’s Mentoring Program had the opportunity to meet and spend time with Yankees players on July 26th, 2011. As part of Hope Week 2011, Tuesday’s Children was one of the charities chosen out of thousands to be recognized and treated to a day like no other.
The day highlighted the Mentoring Program with special recognition to Keith Pryde, Mentor of the Year 2011. Keith and Robert have been matched since 2008 and together they threw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium! The day included a water fight at the South Street Seaport Beach over lunch, a water taxi ride, tours of the stadium, time on the field for batting practice and watching the Yankees beat the Mariners!

Members of the First Responder Alliance came together to enjoy a warm day at the beach! New registrants and families that have been involved for years, joined us for great food, time on the beach, team games, fun music and time together as a community. One of the guest said “Thanks to all of you for the great beach day yesterday. Having a 15 year old smile all day and participate while hanging out with her parents says a great deal about the atmosphere she was in.” The second annual Sandy Hook Beach Day happened on July 21st at the Sea Gull’s Nest Restaurant at Sandy Hook. We always appreciate the kindness of our hosts, Scott, Tina and Ed Segall, who have partnered with Tuesday’s Children for almost a decade!
On September 10th, at the Tuesday’s Children Gala, we launched a new pro-bono ad campaign created by Havas World Wide, which will run on television and in print media throughout the next several months.
