On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, Tuesday’s Children will be hosting our 6th Annual Lessons in Recovery & Resilience Forum: Transformation from Tragedy: Lived Experiences in Recovery from Terrorism, Military Conflict, Mass Violence, Trauma and Loss. As terrorism, mass violence, military conflict and widescale trauma and grief continue to impact families and communities across this country and around the world, our goal is to bring key thought leaders together to share promising practices and enhance the field of recovery and resilience in order to best serve those who have been forever changed by these tragedies.
This forum will feature keynote speakers and panel discussions with experts and survivors highlighting innovative work in terrorism prevention, trauma and bereavement, global disaster response and recovery, community resilience, and assistance for responder and military populations. We will explore:
– Lessons learned from responding to 9/11, terrorism, military conflict and mass-scale tragedies
– First-hand survivor stories of resilience and peer support
– Preparedness, prevention, post-incident response and promising practices in community resilience and recovery from traumatic events

Tuesday’s Children’s Lessons in Recovery and Resilience Series, started in 2016, elevates the voices of survivors and subject matter experts on the ways in which communities can build resilience after terrorism, military conflict, mass violence, trauma and loss. These events are particularly important in building frameworks for peer support and showing those coping with trauma and grief that they are not alone. Our last forum, held virtually in 2022 had over 400 attendees from nonprofits, community-based organizations, academic institutions, corporate and foundation partners, government agencies, students, educators, policy makers, service providers, and more. While we have opted for a virtual format during the pandemic, our previous forum events have been hosted at Fordham University, the Orlando Museum of Art, and the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice.
