Take Our Children to Work Day 2018

Apr 30, 2018

Last week, we hosted our 16th Annual Take Our Children to Work Day program where we hosted 64 children at 26 venues in 4 cities!
Take Our Children to Work Day in Washington, DC
We were excited to welcome 24 children (ages 8-18) who were paired with 11 Congressmen/Congresswomen at our nation’s capital for the day. Two Senators (Senator Wicker and Senator Murkowski) and 9 Representatives generously hosted members of our community. A casual dinner was held for participants the night before so everyone could get to know one another. Our renowned Creative Insight class for parents was a huge success as well.
Take Our Children to Work Day in New York
Take Our Children to Work Day was a great day for all! We had 13 companies host 26 children in New York. Participating companies included: AllianzGI, Blue Apron, Emmis Communications, LinkedIn, L’Oreal, New Amsterdam Theater, New York Red Bulls, NHL, Silverstein Properties, Spaeth Design, Stillwell Partners, Tradeweb, and Tri-Coastal Designs. For the parents, we held a Financial Management Workshop hosted by the HBC Group at Morgan Stanley. Attendees learned about Trust and Estate planning and managing their wealth wisely. Following the Financial Management Workshop, adults participated in a 2 hour Creative Insight course. Thank you to Board Member, Fred Strobel for providing a space for our program and hosting a family member, to Junior Board Member, Kieran Morris for coordinating a great financial management workshop, and to Maureen Raub and Dee Minardi for facilitating the Creative Insight Workshop. Thank you to all of our host companies who provided an invaluable experience to our families.
Take Our Children to Work Day in Jacksonville, Florida
A daughter of a 9/11 first responder spent the day touring Allstate Dealer Services in Jacksonville, FL. Ashley shared, “The best part about the day was the was the opportunity to shadow every aspect of the development and operations process. Each of the specialists gave me an in-depth look at their jobs and their particular roles in the greater process. I also enjoyed being able to ask many questions. Thank you very much for the opportunity.”
Take Our Children to Work Day in Boston
Take Our Children to Work Day continued in Boston on Friday. The program was a great mix of activities for all ages. The young adults listened to a panel of Fenway Parkstaff members from different departments, then we went on a tour of the stadium and military family members participated in a project honoring their lost relative.
This program was hosted in partnership with the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund and the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund.
