Anthony's a great kid. Anthony's a rascal - high spirited,
let's say. He's been a handful for Mom over the last two
years. Like so many of our Moms, Mary's done an
unbelievable job raising Anthony and Alexa with the
weight of the world on her shoulders. But Mary knew
what Anthony needed - a man back in his life. Roger
has a young son of his own Anthony's age. Roger knows
the questions and Roger knows the answers. Anthony
showed up for his first week of mentoring bouncing off
the walls - who could have guessed that Roger, before
too long, would have Anthony calm and focused and
excited about chess? Tuesday's Children could - we
remove the guesswork with a careful screening, training
and matching process. Roger is a deeply caring mentor
who goes way beyond what Tuesday's Children
asks - Anthony is simply that important to him. Roger
understands what a positive role model to an incredible
kid like Anthony really means.
Roger and Anthony. The power of two. |

Anthony wasn't the only one bouncing off walls when this program began.
Mitchell didn't sign up for a mentor - his sister Cherlyn did. But Mitchell shows
up every week. Some kids are hesitant at first to get involved in things they're
unsure of and people they don't know. But Mitchell soon warmed to the idea. He
warmed up to Roger. Now Mitchell is beginning to find his center. He's no longer
bouncing off the walls. He's playing basketball. And chess. With Anthony and Roger.
