Tuesday's Children's family relationships are the key to our success. We know that the traditional methodology of the well intentioned has fallen short in delivering the support so vital to empowering our families to rebuild their future. When our world changed on September 11th, the impersonal delivery of established social service could not.

Tuesday's Children replaces ineffective clinical intake with relationship cultivation in an atmosphere our families not only relate to but welcome. By removing lab coats and clip boards from the intake equation and replacing that methodology with relationship building and interpersonal engagement at social events our families choose to attend, Tuesday's Children begins to build the trust which allows a shift in focus from yesterday to tomorrow - from the past to the positive.

Our families find themselves so relieved to see smiles on their children's faces that their defenses come down. Resistance melts away. The process occurs so naturally it goes unnoticed. The acceptance of Tuesday's Children's method is easily understood. 9/11 families just want to be families. 9/11 kids just want to be kids. By treating our families as such, we gain the respect and participation which allows the method to succeed.

We measure our success by that participation - one family at a time. As you know, we continue to be exposed to repeated references to the heartbreak we endure every day in newspapers, on television and in our communities. As Tuesday's Children gathers our families together, a natural social interaction based upon a common bond allows a positive dynamic to begin with no reference to September 11th. None.
