NY Islanders Score Big with Tuesday's Children at Ice Skating Party |
March 19 , 2008
Hicksville, New York The ice skating rink at Cantiague Park in Hicksville came alive with excitement and laughter on Wednesday, March 19 as Tuesday's Children hit the ice with players from the New York Islanders, the Ice Girls, and the team’s mascot, Sparky the Dragon. More than 100 Long Island family members and their children’s mentors joined New York Islanders Bruno Gervais, Aaron Johnson, and Jeff Tambellini for a special meet and greet evening of ice skating, fun, and autographs. “It is so important that we continue to provide these community-building opportunities and fun activities for the children,” said Terry Grace Sears, Executive Director of Tuesday’s Children. “It allows our families the time to be together, to share some fun and laughs, as well as to be with others who understand what they have been through. The community of support that has grown within our families and through the events and initiatives that Tuesday’s Children has coordinated over the years is truly incredible,” she said. This event is part of an ongoing partnership with the New York Islanders and Tuesday’s Children. “For over six years, the New York Islanders have offered their support to families who lost a loved one on September 11th. Their participation in events like these truly does make a difference in the lives of children who lost so much,” said Sears.
