Mentoring Programs Visits the Liberty Science Center |
April 6 , 2008
Jersey City, New Jersey On Sunday afternoon, the New Jersey and New York City Mentoring Program met up at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ. They spent the afternoon exploring the four floors of the center and all that it has to offer. The group saw an IMAX movie entitled “Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs.” One mentor, Mike Abrams, commented that throughout the movie his mentee talked about different concepts in the film that he had just learned in school. Mike said it was “amazing what he kept pointing out- maybe 8-10 different thing.” Mike was very proud of his mentee! The featured exhibit “RACE: Are We So Different?” looked at the history of race in our country. Some of the kids spent some time writing or drawing pictures about how race affects them in their everyday life. Overall, it was a great afternoon where the kids and their mentors learned a lot and had fun together! Tickets to this event were kindly donated by The Sprint Foundation. Tuesday’s Children Mentoring Department greatly appreciates their generosity
