Veteran Communications Executive, Kris Connell, Appointed to Board of Directors of Tuesday's Children |
New York, New York
Kristen Jones Connell, a veteran communications executive and leading brand strategist, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Tuesday’s Children, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping every individual directly affected by 9/11. Ms. Connell currently serves as vice president of public relations and communications for the Time Inc. Media Group, as well as Time Inc. brands, Essence and Real Simple. "We have an initiative underway to build a deeper board and we are very excited to welcome Kristin to the Board,” said David Weild IV, Chairman of the Board of Tuesday’s Children. “She brings Fortune 500 communications and strategy skills plus relationships in the entertainment community. She is a great talent who will make a real difference to Tuesday's Children." Ms. Connell said, “Tuesday’s Children is as relevant today as it was six years ago. Even now, the 9/11 families, first responders, and rescue and recovery workers still struggle to cope with loss, depression, health and other problems. I’m proud to be part of an organization that has made a long-term commitment to be there.” In her role at Time Inc., Kris is responsible for developing high-profile promotional campaigns targeting both consumers and the trade. Prior to being named to her current post earlier this year, she served as vice president of communications for Time Inc.’s Women’s Lifestyle and Luxury Group, establishing and overseeing a public relations department responsible for four key brands -- In Style, Real Simple, Essence, and The Parenting Group (Parenting and Baby Talk). Previously, Kris spent five years at Real Simple as vice president of public relations and communications, having joined the magazine as director of public relations in 2001. In addition to her PR role, Kris appears on TV as a Real Simple contributor. She is on CBS’ The Early Show every other Tuesday, and can also be seen from time to time on NBC’s Today Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, Real Simple on PBS, and numerous local morning shows. Prior to joining Real Simple, Kris was associate vice president at Rogers & Cowan, the world's largest entertainment public relations agency. A graduate of Georgetown University, she lives in New York City with her husband, Brooke and their daughters, Lily and Skye.
