Tuesday’s Children held our first Digital Photography Workshop for teens on Sunday, January 13th and Sunday, January 27th in New York City.

During the first session, Marcus Prendergast provided an informative, hands-on session at Tuesday’s Children’s NYC office where participants learned about a variety of topics including:

  • The basics of digital photography, including how to use their cameras’ features.
  • Tips on selecting their subject matter and determining how to compose each shot for maximum effect.
  • Instruction on how to use PhotoShop software to enhance their pictures digitally.

The second session provided a field experience for the group, at Rockefeller Center.

  • Participants were able to hone their photography skills by snapping portraits of each other and capturing the amazing views from The Top of the Rock.
  • In the process, they learned how to “set-up” each photo to achieve specific effects based on the lighting, the subject matter and other variables.
  • Lastly, Marcus loaded the pictures onto a laptop allowing participants to view them and discuss how to use the software to enhance them.

Here are some samples of the photos that were taken by the group.  Great job!
