Mentoring and First Steps: Adelphi Hosts Tuesday's Children's Families

September 30, 2007
Garden City, New York

Girl throwing baseballSunday, September 30th, was the first partnership event with Adelphi University and Tuesday's Children. Adelphi Undergraduate Social Work Department, lead by Dr. James Mullin, and the Adelphi Institute of Parenting, lead by Marcy Safyer, hosted an event for families to come together. Children ages five to fifteen received soccer tips, played basketball, went swimming and played football with coaching from Adelphi students while Ms. Safyer answered personal questions and gave helpful advice to parents on various topics.

Candy Cucharo, Director of Programs, expressed that, "It was a unique experience having the activities planned for the children and at the same time having an inspiring and enriching piece for the parents."

Tuesday's Children appreciates the hospitality of Adelphi University. It was a pleasure working with Dr. Mullin and his students as well as Marcy Safyer."
